On set: the forest created for Disney × Razan Alazzouni.
The brief
Razan Alazzouni’s collaboration with Disney marked its 100th anniversary with a collection inspired by Snow White. For the Dubai shoot, we designed a forest setting around the collection, using trees and red apples to carry the story into the photographs.
Behind the set
The scenery drew on nineteenth-century theatre set designs held in museum archives, originally created for well-known stage productions. We adapted those historic designs into overlapping forest layers, placing tree panels in front of a deeper backdrop. Small trees and apples extended the scene onto the studio floor, leaving space for the model within the forest.
The finished set connects two sources of storytelling: Snow White’s forest and apples, and the scenic craft of nineteenth-century theatre. The backstage photographs show how those archival designs became a layered physical environment for the collection.
